Where It All Started

I've been coaching flag football for 7 years now, and when I first started, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Honestly, I don't think any of us really did back then.

I had YouTube, the knowledge I carried with me from playing football growing up, and a group of kids who trusted me to figure it out. At the time, that was more than enough to get started.

And we LOST. We'd win a few here and there. Then we got good enough to have really successful seasons, but when it came down to those final games, we just couldn't finish. We'd get close, but those championship trophies kept going home with somebody else.

Eventually, I had to look in the mirror. I knew we had the athletes. I knew we had talented kids. So at some point, I had to realize that if we weren't getting over that hump, I needed to become a better coach.

We started practicing more. We trained harder. I studied more. Our coaches got better. But probably the biggest change was that we stopped looking at development as something that was only for the best players. We started developing EVERY kid.

When one of our kids struggled in an area, we didn't give up on them or replace them. We worked with them. We pushed them. Their teammates pushed them. Their coaches pushed them. Everybody bought into the village we were creating.

And then something changed. We started winning. Then we started winning a lot. Eventually, we weren't just winning — we were dominating. We built teams that played together, believed in each other and developed together. The coaching improved. The kids improved. The culture improved. We figured out our blueprint.

But none of this happened because of one coach. It took assistant coaches, parents, families and, most importantly for me, my wife. She has supported this journey through every practice, every tournament, every late night, every weekend taken up by football, every crazy idea I came home with, and every hour I've poured into these kids. There is absolutely no way I could have dedicated myself to coaching and building what we're building today without her holding things down and supporting me through all of it. None of this would be possible without her.

Now, seven years later, I look around the Treasure Coast and see coaches asking for help. Parents looking for better opportunities. Teams trying to figure out how to take the next step. And most importantly, I see kids who just need someone willing to invest in them. That's where my vision for Treasure Coast Syndicate comes from.

I don't want to keep what we've learned to ourselves. I want to help coaches become better coaches. I want to help teams become better teams. I want to help athletes develop beyond what they thought they were capable of. I want programs from across our area working together instead of believing we all have to work against each other. And above everything else, I want every kid who comes through this program to LOVE playing football.

Winning matters. We're competitors. We're going to train to win. But development matters more. The kids matter more. The village matters more.

My goal is to build Treasure Coast Syndicate into the #1 destination for Flag Football and 7-on-7 on the Treasure Coast — a place where athletes, coaches, teams and families can come together to train, compete, learn and grow. We've spent seven years learning the blueprint. Now it's time to share it.
